But Choosing or selecting a diamond Solitaire may be a herculean task for many of us. Due to the lack of knowledge of diamond or some misconceptions regarding diamonds, most customers find it difficult to select their Solitaire Diamonds. Please remember that like humans, every diamond is different and every diamond has its own characteristics. It’s very difficult to find exactly same 2 diamonds with same characteristics. Therefore, we recommend you the following:-

Select the Size: First of all select a size which suits you. Starting from 0.30 pointers above, single stones are considered as solitaires. So select your size for example half carat or one carat.

How much you wish to spend: Decide on how much you want spend on the stone/Diamond. A slight difference in Size, quality, color and shape will make difference in the end price.

Zero in on 4 C’s the stone: One of the most important factors in 4 c’s (Cut, Clarity, and Carat & Color) is the cut of the diamond. The cut of the diamond will determine the brilliance of the diamond. Ideal Cut or Excellent cut is most sought after.

The clarity is another main aspect of 4 c’s. More clear the stone, the more value. The Clarity Grade starts from FL which means Flawless. Generally FL, IF (Internally Flawless), VVS (Very very small Inclusion), VS (very small inclusion), SI (Small inclusions) are popular among buyers. Choose the one which suites you. More clarity means More Price.

Carat is nothing but the size. You may choose the stone as per your budget or requirement. More bigly the stone, Price will increase. Popular sizes are 0.50 ct, 0.70 ct, 0.90 ct and 1.00 carat.

Color is another factor of the diamond which determine the quality and price of the diamond. The color starts with D. Popular color grades are D, E, F, G and H among buyers.

Apart from 4 c’s of diamond, there are other factors such as symmetry, Polish and Fluoresce which also contribute the pricing structure of a diamond.

Certification: There are 3 prominent Certification Lab for solitaire diamonds. GIA (Gemological Institute of America, IGI (International Gemological Institute) and HRD (The Hoge Raad voor Diamont). You can choose any of the solitaires certified by these Labs.

Jeweller: Finally, choose your jeweler wisely. Always ask for the after sales service of the particular jeweler and ask for cash back policy of the stone. In any case if you want to exchange your diamond for another bigger diamond, you should not lose much on your existing Stone. So the exchange policy of the jeweler is very important. Also in case if you want to sell your diamond after 2 or 3 years from the purchase date, what will be resale value of that diamond if you return the diamond to same jeweler. Do not hesitate to ask questions while buying a Solitaire diamond.
